What to Watch the Week of September 10: Netflix’s Best Rom-Com of the Year, the 2023 VMAs, and More

Barbie (Warner Bros. Pictures): Okay, so Barbie is not streaming on Max—yet—but as of today, the most talked-about movie of the year is available for early Premium Digital Ownership at home for $29.99 and 48-hour rental via PVOD for $24.99 on platforms where you purchase movies, including Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, Vudu, and more. Included with the film are these special featurettes, ranging from 5 to 11 minutes: “Welcome to Barbie Land,” “Becoming Barbie,” “Playing Dress-Up,” “Musical Make Believe,” “All-Star Barbie Party,” and “It’s A Weird World.” If one of these doesn’t include special footage of America Ferrera’s dynamite monologue, we will have a problem. But I’m holding out hope. Available for purchase/rent

On that note, read on for all the good stuff this week. I’ll see you back here next Sunday for the final season of Netflix’s beloved dramedy Sex Education and the fascinating docuseries The Super Models, on Apple TV+.

Tuesday, September 12

Finally, for those asking about Barbie and when the global blockbuster will be available to stream…well, we’re getting very close. For the cost of approximately two movie tickets, you can own it digitally and watch it whenever you want. Plus, there are a lot of bonus features.
