“Eating disorders don’t just go away and like, you’re healed, like: ‘Sorry, I can eat again, ha ha!’” Rapp explained to The Guardian. “It’s a lifelong thing. There are battles with addiction and whatever everywhere. I still struggle with it, but at least my parents know that I’ve been taken out of environments that were really harmful to my sickness, which is awesome and a huge win. They worry like hell, but they’re chilling, I guess.”
Reneé Rapp has never been afraid to speak her mind. Now, the actor and singer is calling out the producers of the Broadway musical Mean Girls for allegedly making disparaging remarks about her weight. Rapp moved to the New York City and took over the role of titular mean girl Regina George at 19 years old. Working on the production with people who “would say some vile fucking things to me about my body,” she claims, exacerbated her eating disorder.
Reneé Rapp has since turned her focus to music, but will reprise her role as George in the movie adaptation of the hit musical according to Deadline.
