Reminder: the East Coast is colder than the West. The Montecito-based Sussexes are in New York City right now, and thankfully Meghan Markle remembered to pack a jacket. Though she usually goes for understated neutrals, this time the actor and children’s book author went for something youthful and sporty, with a special meaning: a letterman jacket she got during one of her final events as a working royal.
You obviously recall that Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, “stepped back” from royal duties a few years ago, eventually severing some ties with the Windsors and moving to California to be independent. But back in their working royals days, Markle visited the Robert Clack School in the town of Dagenham in east London for a special International Women’s Day assembly, per People, where she was given a jacket with the school’s crest. At the time, the Sussexes had already announced that they were wrapping up their royal lifestyle. Little did they know that this school visit, on March 6, 2020, would be one of the last in-person events anyone would attend for a long time.
