It’s been a “tough week” for Joe Jonas amid rampant speculation about his divorce from Sophie Turner.

On September 3, TMZ reported that the 34-year-old pop star had consulted divorce lawyers after six months of “serious problems” with the 27-year-old Game of Thrones star. Despite granting his fans a slice of hope that the reports were false by sharing an Instagram photo wearing his wedding ring, Jonas officially filed for divorce on September 5, asking the courts for joint custody of their two daughters, per filing obtained by Today.

Throughout the week, multiple tabloid reports seemingly designed to paint Turner as an absent mom led to waves of online support for Turner, with many fans even speculating that Jonas’ team was behind the negative reports. According to the reports, Jonas has been taking care of the kids “pretty much all of the time” for the past three months as Turner filmed a project in the UK. The horror!
